BOTOX INJECTIONS

Botox® is a purified protein that has been used successfully by ophthalmologists to treat different eye muscle problems for over 10 years. In cosmetic procedures, Botox® is used to help ease the frown lines between the eyebrows, forehead lines and crows feet. Botox® works by weakening the muscles that are causing creases or lines around the eyes and forehead. When the muscle is weakened, the skin over that muscle relaxes and the wrinkles in the skin gradually soften and often disappear completely. Since it doesn't affect the nerve, there is no numbness and it will not affect any other facial expression. In some patients, it can be effective for lipstick lines on the upper lip or vertical neckbands.
Before the Botox® injection, we use a topical numbing cream combined with ice. The patient may experience a small sting, then no discomfort. The effects of Botox® usually last three to four months. After several treatments, the effects may begin to last longer.
