LIPOSUCTION

•  SCARS: small incisions with less than 1 centimeter. Their location will depend on the area to be liposuctioned.

•  EDEMA: swelling will be intensely present as far as the second month after surgery. We suggest lymphatic drainage (specialized and directed massage) to accelerate the edema absorption. The organism needs sometime (around 30 days) to respond to the surgical trauma and nothing can be done to accelerate this process. You have to be patient and wait for the final result, which will start to become evident after the post op second month and will reach its ideal around the fourth month.

•  ECMOSES: dark circles will be present in more or less quantities (depending on the area liposuctioned and on the patient's capillary fragility) up to the 10 th – 15 th day of the post op period. We recommend the use of “arnica” to reduce the edema and ecmose.

•  SOLAR EXPOSURE: It's totally counter – indicated to expose the operated areas to sunlight to avoid the formation of dark stains on the skin. You should follow medical orientation closely.

•  HIDROELETROLITIC REPOSITION: During liposuction the patient loses a lot of water and electrolytes (sodium and potassium). It is extremely important to have a rich and health diet associated to a good hydro reposition. We suggest the ingestion of two- three litters of liquid a day, preferably, juices, gatorade, coconut water and food containing iron (spinach, crustaceans, salmon, tuna, red meat, beans, soybeans, lens, water crest and liver) and vitamin C.

•  SHOWER: Can be taken on the second / third day after surgery. Follow medical orientation.

•  MODELING GIRDLE: we recommend its daily use, including sleeping time. The type of girdle will depend on the area to be operated on.

•  LYMPHATIC DRENAGE: We recommend lymphatic drainage a week after surgery to help the edema (swelling) subside.

•  PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: Resting is important during the first 3 days. Due to loss of water / electrolytes the patient normally feels tired, dizzy and sleepy. Physical activity will be progressively allowed by the doctor according to the patient's response to surgery. More intense physical exercises should be avoided during the first month.

•  GOING BACK TO WORK. : It is generally possible 5 days after the surgery.

FINAL RESULT: Around the 4 th month. Some intercurrence may need a second surgical time to achieve a more perfect result. This rarely happens but, when it is necessary, it is done under local anesthesia, in a comfortable manner.
