Correcting Protruding Ear (octoplasty)
Ear pinning is a surgical procedure that can change the size and shape of a person's ears. The procedure is most commonly performed between the ages of 5 and 14, but it can be performed on adults as well. First, an incision is made behind the ear, and then excess cartilage is removed. Remaining cartilage is sutured-or pinned-into place and left to heal.
